Activities – 40th Library Week
Library week will be celebrated from March 29 to April 4, 2004 in various establishments. The Ottoman Bank Archives and Research Center will participate in these events by presenting its library collection on March 30, 2004 at 11:00 a.m.
The library of the Ottoman Bank Archives and Research Center was founded in 1997 in parallel to the Ottoman Bank Archive. It essentially gathers a body of western sources that shed light on the socio-political and economic history of the Ottoman Empire during the 19th century. These cover a wide range of primary sources and archival materials from Oriental Trade Directories [Annuaire Oriental du Commerce] and the travel books of Western travelers, to postcards depicting various aspects of Ottoman daily life and city maps, which offer the viewer a short visit around old districts and buildings.
